Starting and finishing at the back of the Waggon and Horses, Oxspring the course is approximately 4 miles long and involves around 400 feet of climbing and descent. The route includes a mixture of tracks, footpaths and roads and crosses the River Don at three points, which depending upon the state of the river can be quite difficult.

Two Striders turned out for this 21 mile / 4,500 feet race around the Edale tops. After weeks of snow and ice, you could not have had a better day for it Stephen Hargreaves put in a blistering display having started from the back due to "kit problems". Having lost any meaningful use of my legs after Edale Cross, I finished one minute slower than the last time I ran it in 2008.
Footnote: Don Morrison was a mountaineer who died in an attempt on Latok 2 in the Karakoram (Pakistan Himalayas) in 1977. He owned a climbing equipment shop on London Road, Sheffield and before his death sponsored the Edale race.

Two striders took part in this race held in sunny yet cold conditions. The race was very undulating and had a very steep decent towards a fast finish. A tough little course but with brilliant scenery out over the Pennines. A small, well organised 10k that I will be running again next year.

What a fabulous celebration of club athletics this event is where your average scrubber gets the chance to rub shoulders with the elite (well for the first 400 metres anyway). Two laps for the ladies and three for the men, the course was packed with spectators providing ample encouragement all the well round especially at the infamous hill 60. (That marshall at the bottom of hill 60 who was behaving as though he ought to be sectioned was John Lunn by the way). Some parts of the course were short cropped grass, others ankle deep mud where all the previous races had churned the the course up. Great atmosphere and a true cross country course even if we never had a hope. Carol Beattie, along with about fifty others still queuing to have their chips checked, missed the start. She gave the rest of the field about twenty seconds head start! The winning time is the ladies race was 27:52 and there were 505 finishers. The winning time in the mens race was 38:01, there were 1,428 finishers and Striders team finished 71st out of 107 teams.

Twas a cold and frosty late morning start for this midwinter lung-bursting bog-trot over 9 miles and 1800' of ascent around Burbage and Hounkirk Moor. Conditions underfoot varied from frozen earth/trail/peat to shin deep marsh to sheet ice and snow which made for a very tricky, technical race in some parts. This year's addition of a steep descent and ascent off Houndkirk Tor in the last mile of the course added to the toughness. The whole route was very well marshalled - a considerable achievement considering how cold it must have been in the wind on top of Higger Tor. All in all though it was a great start to the local fell running year and all for a fiver (for those who got in early).

Six Striders made the long journey over to a misty, cold Blackburn for this annual event. The course was a testing 12km comprising 4 laps with two significant hills on each lap. Conditions underfoot were better than expected given the recent weather.  The hills named rather benignly ‘Saucer’ and ‘Teaspoon’ were tough and appeared more daunting on each lap. A good long downhill finish benefitted those that had managed to save a little for the sprint to the line. The striders team finished 43rd out of 49 teams.
